BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE

About the Role
A Business Development Representative at Rugged Road is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and developing new retail, dealer, and partnership opportunities. You’ll be the first point of contact for prospective partners - driving growth through outbound prospecting, inbound lead qualification, and creative outreach.
You’ll work closely with our sales and marketing teams to convert interest into long-term brand relationships. This is a role for someone who’s hungry, proactive, and passionate about the outdoor industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and research potential retail partners, outfitters, guides, and strategic brand collaborators.
- Manage and qualify inbound leads through CRM systems (HubSpot)
- Conduct outbound prospecting campaigns - email, phone, trade show outreach, and social engagement.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings or demos between prospects and account executives.
- Maintain detailed, organized records of leads, conversations, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on campaigns to generate qualified leads.
- Provide feedback to marketing and product teams on industry trends and customer needs.
- Represent the brand at industry events, trade shows, and regional activations.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in business development, inside sales, or account management (SAAS or outdoor industry experience preferred).
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills - written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented with a proactive, “go-getter” mindset.
- Comfortable with CRM tools, outreach platforms, and lead management.
- Passion for the outdoors - whether it’s hunting, fishing, hiking, or overlanding.
